Week is an exciting annual program with a little bit of
something for everyone. The week-long celebration includes
presentations by three Smithsonian scholars, including workshops,
lectures, community events, and a variety of other activities.
Throughout the week, the Smithsonian Scholars also visit
local elementary, middle and high schools to share their
areas of expertise through classroom interaction, hands-on
activities, and large group presentations. This provides
students the opportunity to learn about something new or
to tie a real-life topic into what they are learning from
textbooks, and at the same time, learn about their national
museum, the Smithsonian Institution.
